VOLUNTEERS CLEAR FOOTPATHS
The Ramblers is a walking charity that relies on volunteers to run their Area and Group committees, plan and lead walks, organise festivals, and protect the extensive rights of way network. Ramblers volunteers support Kent County Council by clearing paths identified by walkers as overgrown and difficult to negotiate.
We want our Festival walkers to have the best possible experience. Nettles at armpit height and prickly brambles are not welcome when you are wearing shorts and a T shirt! A few weeks before the White Cliffs Walking Festival our walk leaders tell us about overgrown vegetation or if there is a wobbly stile in need of some tlc. The team enjoys pulling out the stops to ensure that it is all done on time. It's a sociable, rewarding experience especially the well-earned break for coffee and cake. We all look forward to being part of this memorable event in the knowledge that our labours will always be appreciated.
KCC supply our tools, training and insurance. Kent Area Ramblers very kindly pick up the tab for travel expenses for those who wish to claim them.
Of course we all know that Mother Nature will ensures that it will grow back again, but like housework and gardening, that's a simple fact of life.
Volunteers are always welcome, the more the merrier, as they say!
